APAHABAR.COM ,JAKARTA - The Indonesian Paediatrician Association (IDAI) warns kids about congenital heart disease's hazards and consequences.

Parents frequently ignore children's heart illness.  Congenital heart disease (CHD) is a condition that affects newborns despite the risk level being 18%.

According to IDAI records, up to 50,000 infants are born each year with CHD, and about 12,000 of those are born with serious CHD.

According to Dr. Rizky Ardiansyah, M.Ked (Ped), Sp.A (K), Chair of the Cardiology Coordination Work Unit (UKK) of the Indonesian Paediatrician Association, "the birth rate of babies with congenital heart disease is still higher than other diseases," on Tuesday (26/9) at a media briefing at the IDAI Office.

Dr. Rizky explained in his presentation that while this condition cannot always be prevented, the risk factors can be minimised.

Dr. Rizky advised women to always express their feelings to gynaecologists when they seek their advice in order to reduce hazards.

Avoid Contact with Viruses

Additionally, keep your distance from somebody who may be contagious with a virus like the flu or rubella.  Additionally, there is an increased chance of rubella transmission to the unvaccinated mother's unborn child, which could result in foetal heart abnormalities.

Dr. Rizky stated that mothers can currently receive the rubella vaccination through community health centres or other medical facilities.

Cigarette Smoke Has a High Risk for Fetal Health

a pregnant lady who is frequently exposed to secondhand smoke.  Smoking cigarettes puts the foetus at risk.  One of these makes heart abnormalities more likely.

To protect the health of the unborn child, he advised staying away from smokers and the smoke while pregnant.

Taking random drugs without a doctor's prescription

The health of the unborn child is put at risk by taking unproven herbal remedies or medications obtained over-the-counter.

Dr. Risky also mentioned how some medications, such those used to treat seizures, might lead to coronary heart disease and developmental abnormalities in the developing heart of the foetus.

A number of newborn baby symptoms can also be identified early in order to reduce the possibility of future, more serious issues.

Like a newborn with cyanosis, which affects the skin, fingers, and areas of the mouth like the gums.  The infant's heart disease symptoms are also indicated by abnormal oxygen saturation and heartbeat sounds.

Depending on the type, the majority of CHD instances can be treated.  Both non-surgical and surgical procedures, as well as the administration of medications to alleviate the symptoms and clinical indicators, are options for interventions on infants.

Dr. Piprim Basarah, Sp.A (K), the chairman of the Indonesian Paediatrician Association (IDAI), also counselled prospective parents to be more informed and concerned about this illness.

He stated, "By doing early detection, we can lower the likelihood of this occurring and make children healthier.
