While protesters in Indonesia's capital marched from several mosques to the heavily guarded U.S. Embassy in Jakarta to denounce American support for Israel and demand an end to Israeli airstrikes, paraders gathered at Iraq's border crossing with Jordan on Friday to show solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and call for an end to Israel's blockade.

Similar demonstrations were also held in front of the UN mission, a few miles (kilometers) away from the embassy, and within the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' compound. Authorities in the world's most populous Muslim-majority country estimated that over 1,000 people took part in the rallies held throughout Jakarta after Friday prayers.

After Hamas militants launched a deadly incursion into southern Israel on October 7, Israel decided to declare war on the extremist organization that controls Gaza. Earlier this week, protests in Egyptian universities, inside a congressional office building in Washington, outside the Israeli Embassy in Bogota, and close to the U.S. Embassy in Beirut were centered around the Israeli siege of the Palestinian area and airstrikes on it. Such demonstrations persisted for almost two weeks following the Hamas strike in Israel, as the country readied itself for an anticipated ground invasion of Gaza.

Since the start of the conflict, over 4,000 people have died and over 13,000 have been injured in Gaza, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. The majority of these casualties have been women, children, and elderly people. Authorities stated they suspected more over a thousand individuals were buried beneath the debris.

Over 1,400 people have died in Israel as a result of Hamas' devastating onslaught, the majority of whom were civilians. About 200 more people were kidnapped. The relatives of 203 detainees have been informed, the Israeli military said on Thursday.

Iran An coalition of Shia political groups and militias in Iraq supported by Iran, called the Coordination Framework, sent hundreds of demonstrators to the western border crossing of Trebil, close to Jordan. To protest its support of Israel in the current conflict with Hamas, the pro-Iranian alliance also called for a demonstration in Baghdad close to the main entrance of the heavily guarded international zone, which houses the American embassy.

Their adversary, the most powerful Shia cleric in Iraq, Muqtada al-Sadr, urged on Thursday for Arab countries that border Israel—Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan—to participate in what he described as nonviolent protests at their borders.

Before praying in front of religious leaders, the demonstrators carried Palestinian flags and yelled "No to Israel."

Militants supported by Iran have attacked US military installations in Iraq in recent days. Iran has issued a warning that an Israeli ground invasion of Gaza may lead to a possible regional war as well as an increase in violence from allied armed organizations. Indonesia As they marched toward the US Embassy, demonstrators stopped traffic and screamed, "God is great" and "Save Palestinians." More than a hundred boisterous protestors gathered along a major Jakarta thoroughfare that passes outside the embassy, waving Palestinian and Indonesian flags and holding posters that said, "We are proud to support Palestine."

A few demonstrators set fire to the likenesses of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Joe Biden.

The U.N. mission, the neighboring presidential palace, and the embassy were all surrounded by over 1,000 police officers.

There are no official diplomatic ties between Indonesia and Israel, nor is there an Israeli embassy there. It has consistently backed the Palestinians with great vigor.

The explosion that occurred Tuesday night at a Gaza City hospital that was housing wounded Palestinians and people in need of shelter was sharply denounced by President Joko Widodo. The reason of the explosion at al-Ahli Hospital is yet unknown, but Widodo called it an attack that broke international humanitarian law. According to US assessments, the explosion was not brought on by an Israeli airstrike, despite what the Gaza Health Ministry, which is administered by Hamas, first said. Israel claims to have video, audio, and other proof demonstrating that Palestinian militants, who have disputed responsibility for the blast, misfired a rocket.

No claim or piece of evidence made public by the parties has been independently confirmed by the AP.

"From Saudi Arabia, where he was attending the ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council summit, Widodo said in a televised statement that now is the time for the world to stand together to build global solidarity to resolve the Palestinian issue fairly."

Korea South Dozens of demonstrators held anti-Israel banners, waved Palestinian flags, and chanted slogans in the capital of South Korea.

The demonstrators held banners that said, "We stand with Gaza" and "Stop the massacre by Israel," and they yelled, "Free, Free Palestinians!" "Please show concern for human life. Elshafei Mohamed, an Egyptian student studying in Seoul, stated, "That's all I am thinking about." "We must immediately provide Gaza with humanitarian aid if we truly want to assist."
